Drainage & Utility Line Trenches
Most of the trenching we do carries water: buried downspout lines, French drain runs, and discharge pipe heading to a dry well or daylight. Gravity lines only work with continuous fall, so we cut each trench to a checked depth and grade, set the pipe on stone bedding, and backfill in compacted lifts. Utility trenches for conduit and service lines get the same treatment, and every dig starts after the NJ utility mark-out, as state law requires.

Retrenching Failed Lines
Retrenching means re-digging a line that already exists because it stopped draining. Crushed pipe, root intrusion, silt, and a run that never had enough fall are the usual causes. We open the old run, find the cause of the failure, and rebuild the trench so the replacement line lasts. The surface gets restored when we leave, whether that is lawn, gravel, or asphalt.

Regrading for Drainage Pitch
Yards settle, erode, and get reshaped by years of small projects, until the slope that once carried water away stops doing it. Regrading resets the fall so the ground drops away from the house and keeps a steady pitch toward a safe outlet. Before You Call
What does retrenching mean?
Retrenching is re-excavating an existing trench line because the pipe in it has failed or the run was never built right. Instead of patching one spot, we open the run, reset the depth and the fall, and install new pipe on proper bedding so the same problem does not come back.
How do I know if my yard needs regrading?
Watch what happens during and after rain. Water resting against the foundation, erosion channels cutting through beds, a patio that floods, or lawn areas that stay wet for days are all signs the pitch has failed. We measure the actual grades during a free estimate and tell you whether regrading alone will solve it or drainage work should be added.
